You also can take the VISIOTRAIN 2000 for a commented visit through the town and the vineyards.
Those who like biking can take the green road, the VELOROUTE from Beaune to Santenay (famous for its wines, its thermal springs and its casino), through the wine-producing villages of Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagene-Montrachet. This green road leads then to Chalon-sur-Saône (Niepce Museum, invento of the photography) along the channel of the centre of France through Chagny and Rully.
In excursion by car in the immediate vicinity :
South of Beaune, CIRCUIT DE LA COTE ET DES HAUTES COTES DE BEAUNE, you wil go through the famous wine-producing villages (visit and wine tasting in the castle of Pommard and in the castle of Meursault)
You will pass through Nolay (natural cirque of the Bout du Monde). You will stop to visit the castle of La Rochepot built on a rock and owned by the family Carnot (ancient President of France) then on your way back to Beaune go through Saint Romain (cliffs).
North of Beaune at 3 kms visit the castle of Savigny with its motorbike museum then leave for the COTE AND HAUTES COTE DE NUITS (production of blackcurrant, redcurrent , raspberry) and take the ROUTE DES GRANDS CRUS. In Nuits- Saint- Georges you can visit the Cassissium to discover the blackcurrant, burgundian speciality and the Imaginarium a place dedicated to the sparkling wine, the Crémant de Bourgogne.
In the surroundings you will see the Abbey of Citeaux, birthplace of the holy order of the Cistercians (visit and cheese production). Further North appears the famous castle of Clos Vougeot, ownery of the Chevaliers du Tastevin, (visit - old wine presses). North West the Ouche Valley and the channel of Burgundy (cycling road along the channel)
